nick- thanks for the suggestion. i tried to 'give the shadows more punch' by enhancing the contrast and did like the effect. it kind-of eliminated the antiqued, washed-out feel i was going for and gave the picture a new look. but i liked it.
Ha! I love the boots--I totally went around in rainboots as a kid too--those and a big straw hat with purple overalls--it was awesome! I love how you composed this, with so much of the tree visible--gives a sense of how large it really is!
